Throughout most of Volkswagen's history,
Solex carburetors proved to be the standard.
However, 1973 signaled a
change as the Beetle was being phased out and replaced with new models
like the Dasher, Scirocco, and the Rabbit.
From 1973 through 1976 these models came equipped with Zenith two
barrel carburetors
In 1979 the Rabbit returned to Solex until 1982 when a Carter Weber
single barrel was adopted.
